Legacy of the Tuna
from CowboyMagic31's SportingBlog
Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells has left. I remember when Gruden took over Tampa Bay with their super defense, put an offense in place, and they were superbowl bound. Then the defense declined and Tampa Bay has been that good again. The Legacy of Parcells for the Cowboys is the conversion to the 3-4 defense. The Cowboys have always been a 4-3 team. The closest they ever came to a 3-4 was the flex with 254 lb DT Randy White lining up off the line. But a huge investment has been made in LBs and Defensive Linemen, and the change will continue. Wade and Garrett will add their contributions (being aggressive and attacking) to what is left of the Tuna in this year's team, and the result may very well be a Tampa Bay like trip to the superbowl. Combining the best of all of them. Although he never made it to the Superbowl while coaching the Cowboys, the Tuna may have a part in one still for the Cowboys, in setting the stage for this season. That would be a nice Legacy in helping the Cowboys make History.
