Cowboys sign another tight end

IRVING -- The Cowboys signed tight end Adam Bergen on Tuesday.
The two-year veteran played 30 games in 2005 and 2006 with the He started nine games as a rookie.

Dallas needed another tight end after Anthony Fasano injured his shoulder in practice two weeks ago. Fasano, who will miss this weekend’s minicamp, is not expected to be available until training camp. Training camp is July 25 through Aug. 8 in San Antonio.

The Cowboys have six tight ends on their roster. They are Pro Bowler , Andy Thorn, undrafted rookie Rodney Hannah, Tony Curtis, Fasano and Bergen. Curtis is playing with the Cologne Centurions in NFL Europe.

Also, the Cowboys will conduct joint practices against the Denver Broncos in the days before the teams’ Aug. 18 preseason game at Texas Stadium. The teams are expected to practice together Aug. 15-16. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips was the head coach in Denver from 1993-94 and defensive coordinator from 1989-1992.
