DMN Blog: Get used to Newman being gametime decision
CB Terence Newman said his partially torn right plantar fascia feels "a little better," but he won't know whether he can play until he tries to run and cut a couple hours before the game.
"It's probably going to be that way for a while," Newman said. "We don't know how it’s going to feel from week to week, day to day. I'll warm up before the game to see how it feels. If it feels good enough, I'll go."
Newman, who has participated in parts of the last three practices, made it clear that he does not want to play if he doesn't feel healthy enough to perform well. He played on a bad knee a few years ago and said he "stunk."
Newman said it's possible that he could get a pain-killing shot before the game, but he's hesitant to do so. He fears that playing with a numbed foot might make the injury worse.
"I'm not going to put myself out there if I can play," he said. "Nickel, dime, base, whatever -- it doesn't matter. I'm not going to play if I'm not ready."
