Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said he'll miss Wade Wilson's advice while the quarterbacks coach serves a five-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. "He's got so many years in the league as a player and a coach that he was always real good at explaining things, just little tidbits on the field when I needed questions answered, when I needed them quickly and stuff," Romo said. "I think it'll hurt definitely not having him around." Wilson is eligible for reinstatement Oct. 9 . . . Coughlin said the Giants offense is preparing for Sunday's game against the Cowboys as if Newman will be available, and said he's confident Newman will start . . . Second-year tackle Pat McQuistan, who filled in for both starters Marc Colombo and Flozell Adams during training camp and the preseason, practiced at left guard Wednesday . . . Asked about Michael Vick's guilty plea on federal dogfighting charges, Owens said he didn't condone the quarterback's actions but believed dogfighting was more prevalent in the South, saying he once attended one while growing up in Alabama . . . Former Cowboys fullback Lousaka Polite, released on the final round of cuts and having worked out for the Chicago Bears earlier in the week, was officially added to the Bears' 53-man roster on Wednesday. Certainly the Bears are aware of playing the Cowboys the third week of the season.
