The highs and lows of Tony Romo's first season as a starter:
Aug. 12, 2006: Romo takes every snap of the Cowboys' 13-3 victory over Seattle in the preseason opener, completing 19 of 25 for 235 yards and leading the offense on three scoring drives of 80 yards or more.
Aug. 20, 2006: After interviewing coach Bill Parcells, NBC's Peter King says he "sincerely believes" Parcells is considering benching Drew Bledsoe in favor of Romo.
Oct. 23, 2006: With Cowboys trailing 12-7 at halftime against the New York Giants at Texas Stadium, Parcells benches Bledsoe and replaces him with Romo. The Cowboys go on to lose 36-22, but Romo completes 14 of 25 for 227 yards, two TDs and three interceptions.
Oct. 29, 2006: In his first NFL start, Romo connects on 24 of 36 for 270 yards, one TD and one interception while leading the Cowboys to an improbable 35-14 victory over Carolina.
Nov. 5, 2006: Despite passing for 284 yards and two TDs, Romo suffers first defeat as an NFL starter when Washington kicks a 47-yard field goal with no time left for a 22-19 victory.
Nov. 19, 2006: Romo outplays Peyton Manning, completing 19 of 23 for 226 yards in a 21-14 upset of Indianapolis.
Nov. 23, 2006: In only his fifth start, Romo ties the team record for TD passes, throwing five in a 38-10 thrashing of Tampa Bay on Thanksgiving Day and lifting the Cowboys to the top of the NFC East.
Dec. 10, 2006: New Orleans intercepts Romo twice during a 42-17 rout of the Cowboys at Texas Stadium.
Dec. 19, 2006: NFL announces Romo has been chosen to play for the NFC in the Pro Bowl.
Dec. 25, 2006: Philadelphia all but claims the NFC East crown with a 23-7 victory at Texas Stadium. Eagles limit Romo to 142 yards passing and intercept him twice.
Jan. 6, 2007: Romo plays well at quarterback but costs the Cowboys a chance to win their first playoff game since 1996 when he botches the hold on a chip-shot field goal with just more than a minute left. Seattle goes on to win 21-20, leaving Romo in tears.
