DMN Blog: Crayton making name with mouth

Let me begin with a big thank you for Patrick Crayton, who has provided so much fodder for this here blog with his big proclamations and bold predictions.

Crayton was the guy that broke the news that the Cowboys would break the NFL scoring record this season. Now, he's guaranteeing the franchise's ninth trip to the Super Bowl (not to mention first playoff win in 11 years).

I never criticize guys for flapping their gums until hindsight guarantees that they're wrong. Until then, I encourage crazy talk for sensationalistic reasons.

But it's a little odd to hear such ruckus coming from a dude with Crayton's track record. This ain't T.O. or Ocho Cinco opening their mouth, guys who have Crayton's career stats (1,400 yards, 11 TDs) in an average season.

Crayton, who is on pace for 1,000 yards and double-digit TDs this season, only recently became a big enough name to attract reporters to his locker. I guarantee we'll keep coming back.
