DMN Blog: Let 'er rip with Romo?
Hall of Fame scribe Rick "Goose" Gosselin points out that the Vikings' run defense is really, really good.
Pat Williams and Kevin Williams form perhaps the most dominant DT duo in the league. They clog the middle and free up MLB E.J. Henderson to make plays.
Can you run the ball up the middle against Minnesota?
"Sure, you can run right at them," Tony Romo said, "but you're not going to get anything."
Romo acted like he was kidding, following that comment up by saying the Cowboys had to stick with their formula of establishing the run first. But the Cowboys' best hope to finally score a first-quarter TD is to probably let Romo loose from the get-go. The Vikings rank dead last in passing defense (288.4 yards per game).
Of course, an opponent's poor pass defense ranking doesn't necessarily mean Romo will perform well. After all, the Bills rank second-to-last.
