Check the stats:
A 59 percent completion rate, a 93.5 passer rating, 1,707 yards passing, 15 touchdowns, and a 5-1 record.
So come on Jerry Jones—what are you waiting for?
It's time to give Tony Romo the contract he deserves.
Sure, his interceptions may be suspect—but not even Peyton Manning is perfect.
One thing Romo has over Manning or Tom Brad is mobility—he can get out the pocket and still find that open man.
Other than Vince Young, who else in the league can do it better?
Romo went undrafted out of Eastern Illinois, then rode the bench in Dallas while the likes of Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, and Drew Bledsoe struggled under center.
Bill Parcells kept Romo around because he saw potential—but was afraid to play him because he was "very young and inexperienced."
So much for that.
When Romo took over last year, he put up 2,903 yards, 19 touchdowns, and a 95 passer rating. Not bad for a guy who'd never been in a single NFL game
Romo's botched hold on a late field goal against the Seahawks in the playoffs cost the 'Boy—but the QB didn't get down on himself. Instead, he used the flub as motivation to get better.
And about that contract.
Jones wanted to wait to see what Romo would do this year before making him an offer. The young QB has shown he deserves the big bucks.
Romo is the real deal—and can take the Cowboys to the promised land if he stays focused.
T.O. says "get your popcorn ready." Well, someone needs to tell Jerry Jones to "get his checkbook ready"—because it's time to shell out for the NFL's future MVP.
