Systems still new for Cowboys

IRVING – Through a 6-1 start, it's been easy to forget how new Wade Phillips' defense and Jason Garrett's offense is to the Cowboys. And that fact should give the coaches room to open up the playbook even more after the bye.
"We're doing some different things on a weekly basis," quarterback Tony Romo said. "I think you saw it last week, with a little bit of the no-huddle. There's still some things we haven't brought out that I suspect we will at some point here."
Players intimated Monday that it's as much about the coaches learning the personnel as the players learning the system. As the comfort level rises on both sides and several key players return from injuries, more options will open for the NFL's second-ranked offense and seventh-ranked defense.
"It's us being comfortable and us knowing the system," defensive end Chris Canty said, "and then them seeing what we can do and being comfortable in calling certain defenses."
