RECAP: Wade Phillips Press Conference 11/15/07
RECAP by theogt from a sports forum:
Davis did rehab. He was on the field. He may participate some tomorrow. Looking a little better. We don't know if he'll be able to play but he felt better than he did yesterday. He was walking and doing some things. It was a slight high ankle sprain.
Feel like you dodged a bullet with his injury?
Anytime you ahve a player go down, it's bad. You hold your breath, but you can't worry about it all the time.
Henry ready to go?
Limited to doing sub stuff. Which we did quite a bit of sub stuff. More than yesterday. He did more than yesterday. He's still not first team regular stuff.
How do you feel about his Procter?
I feel good. He's prepared himself. I think he'll be ready to play. Tony does a godo job getting them ready.
Henry's snaps be about the same?
Looks like it. We'll have to see how he looks. Looked like he was moving around well out there today.
Didn't have an O-line miss for awhile. Is that luck?
I know there have been some, but O-line is not a position that gets a lot of people hurt. Most teams go into a game with only 7 O-line, thinking that not many are going to get hurt in a game.
When you have a guy that's questionable like Davis, do you factor in a big game later in the schedule?
No, we just...this game is important. If he's ready to play, he will. If not, we'll treat it as a regular game. If I thought it would keep him from playing again in the future obviously we would keep him out.
Stanback on target?
He's at full participation. I don't think he's quite 100% healthy, but he's fully participating.
Work in Tank same as last week?
Yeah, Tank will keep working in. We'll see. He'll get a number of plays. I thought he did fine last week. He was a little rusty but made some plays. Production is the first thing. He made a sack and had 3 tackles. So he did produce, but he was a little rusty. He showed some things on passrush.
KR?
Don't know yet. Haven't finalized it. We have 3 alternatives.
What else does Stanback do?
He can do some other things, and we've started to work him into those things, but he got hurt. He's versatile enough to help us on some other things. I want him to be 100% when he comes back.
Tyson in the mix at KR?
He's still a possibility. Miles plays on all ST. So if you use him, he plays on all areas. Stanback has some good KR return ability, but he doesn't help us in other special teams groups. With only 45 every game you ahve to leave players out which is hard, but you gotta do it.
Redskins motioning -- complicated or basic?
That's what Gibbs has done for a long time. He'll shift and see what your in and then to get to something else. So he can see what you're doing against 3 different sets. They've always done that. It can be complicating for some teams. They've been successful.
Portis?
I like Portis. I think he's -- he's carrying the ball 30+ times a game whcih is hard to do. He's obviously a good back. He blocks -- he blocks like our guys block. He's good in pass protection and chipping on guys.
No huddle last week? Were they effective?
Yes, they did well in the no huddle. That's why I think their QB is coming along well. They've got more confidence in him and they were effective. I expect them -- we practice on that all the time.
Their WRs?
I don't have a feel for whether they'll be hurt by not having all their receivers. We know they're capable.
[A bunch of useless mess about rivalry games]
Will they feature Cooley because of the good game Shockey had?
I think they'll work in their good players. We feature our good players. I thought we did a pretty good job against Shockey in the second half, so we'll try to play our second half game on Cooley. We jammed him more and doubled. He was isolated on some of our players some of the times because we doubled Plaxico.
