LB Zach Thomas is now a Cowboy
Cowboys agreed with LB Zach Thomas on a one-year, $3 million contract. Profootballtalk.com reports he'll earn a $1 million signing bonus with a $1 million base salary. Another $1 million is available in incentives.
Thomas is not guaranteed to start in front of Bradie James or Akin Ayodele, but he'll be part of a solid interior rotation for the Cowboys deep linebacker group. Coach Wade Phillips indicated he'd use Thomas like Donnie Edwards, meaning if Thomas starts, Ayodele will be sent to the bench. Thomas' tackle numbers will go down, but Dallas probably offered him the best combination of money and possible wins.
