DMN Jean-Jacques Taylor 02/12 Chat...'Boys blurbs only
Dallas Morning News sports columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor answered questions on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
From e-mail: Sources from the Washington Post say the Redskins are interested in trading for Chad Johnson. That said, could the Cowboys not offer a better deal to the Bengals to acquire him? It is believed that the Bengals would want a couple of first-day draft picks, which the Cowboys have. Thoughts?
Jean-Jacques Taylor: Who's go to put their ego in their back pocket if Chad Johnson were to come here? Is Johnson going to do it? Nope. What about T.O.? Nope. Then all you're doing is setting yourself up for an entire season of drama. It's not a good fit. Chemistry matters. This isn't Madden or fantasy football.

From e-mail: Wouldn't it be a good idea for the Cowboys to put the franchise tag on Flozell Adams for one year? By that time, Pat McQuistan or Doug Free will be ready to step in at left tackle. Thoughts?
Todd
Jean-Jacques Taylor: McQuistan has already been here two years. At some point, you have to pull the trigger and see if he can play. The franchise tag for tackles is a huge number. I don't think Jerry is interested in paying that.

From e-mail: What are the chances of Jerry Jones getting the upcoming draft right and actually drafting players who will help the team reach the Super Bowl?
Terry
Jean-Jacques Taylor: Jerry doesn't have to do much to make this draft a success. He doesn't have to make a single trade and it will be OK. He can use his two picks in the first round on a runner and a receiver and the second round pick on a cornerback. Do that and pick the right players and it will be all good.

TO81: What are your thoughts on the new-look Cowboys coaching staff?
Jean-Jacques Taylor: I never had an issue with the coaches who were hired and whether they were talented. My problem with the staff is that Jerry hired people who were more loyal to Jason Garrett than Wade Phillips. Hudson Houck is an excellent coach. So is Dave Campo. And I know Reggie Herring is well-respected. The staff is good, as are the players. Maybe they can win a playoff game now.
