Mosley: Anquan Boltin' to the Cowboys?
by Matt Mosley
If you think that Drew Rosenhaus will remain silent about his client Anquan Boldin's contract situation in Arizona, you haven't followed the man's career. The signing of Larry Fitzgerald to a four-year, $40 million contract extension may have brought the Cardinals temporary relief, but they will soon hear from Rosenhaus about Boldin's bargain-basement deal.
As Hashmarks enthusiast Adam Schefter recently pointed out, the club's other Pro Bowl receiver is set to make $2.5 million in base salary this season, $2.75 million in 2009 and $3 million in 2010. That's not going to cut it for a Pro Bowl receiver who is a much better leader than Fitzgerald.
So what are the alternatives? Well, it wouldn't surprise me if Rosenhaus instructs Boldin to hold out at some point. Boldin's not a selfish person, but he's not going to give the Cardinals a free ride.
According to sources close to Hashmarks, the Cowboys spent some time talking about Boldin last week at Valley Ranch. It wouldn't surprise me if they reached out to the Cardinals at some point. Dallas needs someone other than Patrick Crayton to play opposite of Terrell Owens, and Boldin would certainly be worth a No. 1 pick. I'm not saying this is going to happen, but it's something you should keep an eye on.
