Cowboys won't ask too much of Felix Jones in Cleveland

by Tim MacMahon

A big part of Felix Jones' value is his versatility, but the Cowboys coaches are conscious of not throwing too much at the rookie for his NFL debut.
That doesn't mean you won't see Jones move around. Matter of fact, Wade Phillips hinted that the first-round RB could be used some as a slot receiver against the Browns.

But the coaches assigned Jones, who could also return kickoffs, a thin slice of the playbook to study. That's the way the Cowboys coaches treat every young role player.

"In Felix Jones' case, we don't certainly say, 'All right, you do everything Marion Barber does,'" Phillips said. "We say, 'If you're in the game, these are the running plays you'll have, and these are the pass plays you'll have.' ... You don't give them everything to do, because they would have trouble doing that."
