Cowboys interested in a Pro Bowl corner?

Posted by ESPN.com's Matt Mosley

Now that it appears that cornerback DeAngelo Hall was on the list of players Raiders owner Al Davis wants to cut, will Jerry Jones be there to catch him? I made a call to Valley Ranch on Wednesday morning, and it doesn't sound like the Cowboys have any interest. Right now, they're hoping Terence Newman (sports hernia) can return after the bye week.

Remember that Jones and Davis are close friends. If Davis has soured on Hall, there's a good chance he and Jones have talked about the reasons. In fact, it sounds like there's at least $16 million reasons why the Cowboys wouldn't do the deal. If you claim him off waivers, it's a relatively inexpensive investment (less than $500,000 for rest of season). But if Hall suffers a serious injury, his $16 million in bonus money becomes guaranteed.

Jones is a risk taker (Brad Johnson anyone?), but we won't bite on this deal. Now, he might consider doing a free-agent contract if Hall clears waivers. Much more to come.
