Cowboys STATE of UNION ADDRESS

Well, we just past the NFL draft and every "expert" out there has the Cowboys from a C to a D as a grade for their draft...Personally, if I had to grade it on what little I know about some of these guys, I would give it a B and that would be including Roy Williams as our Round 1 and 3 pick.
The Boys from the Eagles game on has made it VERY clear to me that they are going with a TEAM concept for once.
They cut TO and PacMan and allowed Tank Johnson to go in free agency.
They told old man Brad to hit the retirement community and dealt an aging and slowing Anthony Henry for Kitna to at least go 2-1 or 3-0 if Romo were to go down again due to injury.
They did not overpay for Chris Canty like the Giants did, instead opting for a cheaper but almost identical in production in Igor Olshansky from San Diego.
Rather than sticking with Roy Williams the saftey for another wasted season, they cut him and brought in Gerald Sensabaugh for a reasonable deal VERY similar to what they did with Hamlin a few seasons ago.
Zach Thomas walked too and the Boys inked Keith Brooking to a 2-3 year deal and saved themselves a few million as well as 3 years in age. Keith played on Nickle coverage last year and that gives Dallas some options when passing downs roll around.
The draft to me was solid...I could "bore" everyone with the massive amounts of star players that have been drafted from the 4th round and beyond in the past but that would be a waste of time.
Look at each player individually and what you will see is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade in special teams next season.
Special teams cost this team 2 wins for sure last year: Arizona and Pittsburgh.
In Zona, they returned a kickoff 93yds for 1 score and blocked a punt in overtime while knocking McBriar out for the SEASON!
With McBriar gone for the season we had to watch that other lame punter shank ball after ball all season long and in the Steeler game, 2 of his crap punts gave the Steelers sick field position that led to 10pts....guess what? put the end result on Romo, but special teams play set them up in the first place.
Dallas brass knows this and drafted guys that can rush the passer and fly on special teams.
Heck, this kicker....jeesh...the guy is 6-3/225lbs and benched more than his teammates at LINEBACKER! The guy ran a 40time better than his ENTIRE team! He played fullback and saftey and kicker for the Trojans, while posting like 40 touchbacks....I do not know about you, but having him on the 53 man roster is like getting 3 players in one...
Dallas has done their homework and we will ultimately see real soon how it all pays off...
Like Wade or not, he is a sick defensive mind and if he improves this D even more, we are talking Top 5 in the league, since they were 8th last season.
Garrett had a setback season playcalling wise, but what we do not know is how much they could have been catering to Owens and ultimately hurting the team...we will see there as well with a more balanced team between Roy, Crayton and Austin, let alone Witten and the running backs (Felix and Tashard) catching balls.
In the end, there is only 1 football and spreading it around and winning games means more to me than seeing 1 guy get his stats and us going 9-7.
With this schedule, Dallas can easily go 12-4 or just as easily go 9-7 again with things falling apart.
I think, with the cancers gone from the locker room and the distractions tucked away, that Big D will play with a chip on its shoulder this season and put a hurtin on some people...
But I am biased....so we will see.
