Pros: Williams is Dallas' unquestioned No. 1 wideout following the exit of wide receiver Terrell Owens (Buffalo Bills). Williams possesses the size, strength, hands and freakish athletic ability to serve as a top target. The former University of Texas standout, who will turn 29 in December, has had a full offseason to learn the Dallas system. He has shown the ability to dominate, as illustrated by his 82-catch, 1,310-catch, seven-touchdown season in 2006.
Cons: Williams does not have big-play speed and has never scored double-digit touchdowns in a season. He also has started all 16 games in a regular season just once in five years. Williams' has logged more than 80 catches and more than 1,000 receiving yards in just one season (2006). Can Williams learn the Cowboys' offense and build some essential chemistry with quarterback Tony Romo? Williams looked hopelessly lost in Dallas' system last year, catching just one touchdown and topping the 50-yard receiving mark just one time. Romo's favorite target is tight end Jason Witten.
Fantasy tip: Williams has top-10 potential, but he could just as easily fall into the top 25. Since Williams is a starting wideout, you should target him in the lower fourth round or early fifth round as a No 2 fantasy receiver - if the value is good. Some fantasy owners are skeptical about whether Williams can fill Owens' shoes.
