Biggs: Dallas fills out roster, practice squad

Cowboys claim S Marvin White off waivers
By Brad Biggs

The Dallas Cowboys filled out their roster this afternoon by claiming safety Marvin White off waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals shopped the two-year veteran on Saturday but couldn’t find any takers and chose to release him. Dallas has a need because only Pat Watkins is healthy as a reserve safety. Mike Hamlin, a fifth-round pick, is out at least another two weeks with a broken wrist. Dallas had room for White because they cut down to 52 on Saturday.

Then Dallas went about the business of filling out its practice squad, bringing back wide receiver Jesse Holley, the winner of the reality show “4th and Long.’’ Also signed were wide receiver Manny Johnson, a seventh-round pick, quarterback Rudy Carpenter, tight end Scott Chandler, fullback Julius Crosslin, guard Travis Bright, defensive end Marcus Dixon and cornerback Mike Mickens.

The Cowboys reportedly wanted to bring defensive back DeAngelo Smith, a fifth-round pick, back but he was claimed on waivers by the Cleveland Browns.
