NFC East: Giants are going to be very busy the next few days

The News report: "March 12, 2006 The Giants are going to be very busy the next few days. Various reports claim they have initiated contact with the agents representing CB Deshea Townsend (Pittsburgh), DT Ryan Pickett (St. Louis), LB David Thornton (Indianapolis) and DT Rocky Bernard (Seattle). No visit information is available as of this writing. S Quentin Harris (Arizona), however, is due in for a two-day visit starting today. Updating yesterday's reports, S Marlon McCree (Carolina), who had been due in for a visit tomorrow, signed with San Diego yesterday. The team was also reportedly interested in LB Clint Kriewaldt (Pittsburgh) who re-signed with the Steelers yesterday. Contrary to earlier reports that first resurfaced among various sites, the team does not appear to have any interest in LB Julian Peterson (San Francisco) at this moment. In other news, the team is disappointed, to say the least, with the agent for DT Kendrick Clancy. The Giants were so confident they'd be able to resign Clancy to a reported four- year, $5.7 million deal with $3.2 million in the first two years, that GM Ernie Accorsi told us several weeks ago of that."
