Redskins and 49ers have agreed on a deal that will send WR Brandon Lloyd to Washington for a 2006 third-round pick and a fourth-round selection in 2007.
The deal is pending a physical. San Francisco wasn't enamored with Lloyd's inconsistent play and wannabe rapper career, but they aren't a team that should be giving up offensive talent. Washington continues to mortgage the future, but Lloyd fills a gaping hole at No. 2 receiver. If anyone can maximize his talent, it's Joe Gibbs. Just don't expect a Santana Moss-like explosion.
