NFC East: Brunell to miss 2-3 weeks of off-season work

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell has a small fracture in his left index finger and is expected to miss two to three weeks of offseason workouts.

Brunell was hurt during a workout earlier this week, but the team did not announce the injury until Friday. Because Brunell is left-handed, he will have to sit out most of the remaining spring practices, although he might return in time for the June 16-18 minicamp.
The 35-year-old Brunell is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July. Brunell is coming off one of his best seasons. He threw for 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions to help lead the Redskins to their first playoff appearance since 1999.
