Bledsoe 'disappointed but not disheartened'

Bledsoe 'disappointed but not disheartened'

From beat man Todd Archer...

Bill Parcells has often said he learns a lot about a quarterback after a poor game. Now in his sixth season with Bledsoe, he believes he knows how Bledsoe will respond Sunday against the Redskins.

Last year, Bledsoe followed a shaky outing at Oakland with a three-touchdown effort against Philadelphia. He followed a game-losing interception at Seattle with an efficient 19-of-24, one-touchdown game against Arizona.

"I'm a leader on this team," said Bledsoe, who added that his back – which some speculated was responsible for some his misfires against the Jaguars – felt fine. "It's a position I welcome. In this league, and probably just in life, how you respond to things defines who you are. I'm disappointed by this game. It certainly didn't come out the way we wanted.

"We're disappointed but not disheartened. We're going to come out and win this week."

History says those expecting a quarterback change from Parcells will have to wait. He said it's not even a consideration right now.

In only three of his previous 18 years as a coach has he made a quarterback change for a reason other than injury. He did it in his first year with the New York Giants, subbing Scott Brunner for Jeff Rutledge.
