Cowboys could dress extra linemen

from Mick's Mail

Carl Davis, Stockton, Calif.: OK, time to play another exciting round of "half empty-half full." Now if for some reason Al Johnson has to start on Sunday in Philly, will Andre Gurode make the trip as a backup, and if not, should Johnson get injured, who would back him up? I know Bill says he should be OK by Sunday, but things do happen. Is there someone that the Cowboys have in reserve for an emergency such as this?

Mickey: Excellent question, and 'bout time we take a T.O. break. First of all, if Gurode goes to the game, knowing Bill, he starts. If he can't, he doesn't play as a backup. Secondly, Parcells said Thursday he might take eight offensive linemen to the game for the first time this year, having taken just seven the past three games - Johnson and Jason Fabini the backups. Parcells said backup guard Cory Procter would be the eighth, and mostly because he's been working at center, too, of late. This way, if something happened to, say, Gurode that he couldn't finish and Johnson had to go in at center, Procter then would be available to back up at guard.
