Cowboys can fix this ... if leaders step up

Jean-Jacques Taylor: Cowboys can fix this ... if leaders step up

It's time for accountability. It's time for the Cowboys' leaders to step up.

Roy Williams. Greg Ellis. Bradie James. Marco Rivera. Aaron Glenn. Jason Ferguson. It's time to flex your collective muscle and make it perfectly clear to each of your teammates that it's time to make a change for the better.

All of the Cowboys' goals can still be reached. They can still make the playoffs – winning the division is going to be a little tricky – and be a factor in the NFC, but the mistakes have to stop.

Bill Parcells cut practice early last Friday because he'd seen enough poor practice for the week. He also griped about practice two days earlier.

You can't question the talent on this roster. It's good. It could always be better, but it's certainly good enough to win 10 games in the NFC.

But these Cowboys rarely play to their potential.

They lead the NFL in penalty yardage. They commit too many turnovers. They make mental errors at an alarming rate.

They should be much better than 4-4, but that's what they are. It's still time for the Cowboys to make a playoff run. They need to go 6-2 in the second half of the season to do it.

The odds aren't good considering this team has one three-game winning streak in the last 2 ½ seasons. It's up to the leaders on this team to get everyone to play their best.

Do that and the Cowboys have hope. Fail and it's going to be a long off-season.
