Cowboys Insider: Madden: The Tuna will best T.O. in Cowboys' version of 'Survivor'

John Madden is betting on Bill Parcells in the Cowboys’ version of "Survivor."

“I really don’t think (Terrell Owens) is going to be back in Dallas next year,” Madden said Thursday in a conference call to promote NBC’s telecast of Saturday’s Dallas-Seattle playoff game.

“I think Bill will be back. But as everyone knows with Bill Parcells, you are never going to be sure. He’s 65 and he’s talking about if he has the energy and all this, but I still think one will be back and one won’t.

"Bill will be back.”

Madden also scoffs at the notion the game has passed Parcells by, a common complaint from Cowboys fans displeased with their team’s 2-3 showing in December.

“If he beats Seattle and goes on to the next round and wins in the next round, they’ll be giving him a parade,” Madden said.

Parcells has one more year left on his contract. He turns 66 before the start of next season and has looked worn out at times this season.

“He’s been doing this a long time and there’s a lot of wear and tear,” Madden said. “But it’s not the games. It’s getting ready for the games. He’s (wondering) if he can go through the combine, the draft, mini-camp and training camp. You have to feel you can do that and do it with enthusiasm.”

So sounds to me like Madden’s got some inside information, sort of like Sports Illustrated’s Peter King did when he predicted in the preseason Parcells would turn to Tony Romo if Drew Bledsoe flopped.

Five reasons the Cowboys will beat the Seahawks

1. The defense has struggled mainly against offenses that include a dynamic playmaker (think Reggie Bush, Roy Williams and Brian Westbrook). The Seahawks have their share of great offensive players (Matt Hasselbeck, Shaun Alexander), but they don’t really have someone that can stretch the defense like those guys.

2. Tony Romo and his receivers should have a field day against Seattle’s injury-depleted secondary.

3. The Cowboys are 1-1 in Seattle under Parcells and would be 2-0 had Drew Bledsoe not thrown a late interception last season in what turned out to be a 13-10 loss.

4. The Seahawks pass rush is nearly as anemic as the Cowboys’. After recording a league-best 34 sacks through nine games this season, Seattle has notched only seven in the past seven games.

5. They’re due for a good game.

Five reasons why the Seahawks will beat the Cowboys

1. Left tackle Walter Jones, a seven-time Pro Bowler, will shut down the Cowboys’ only real pass-rushing threat, linebacker DeMarcus Ware.

2. In four games against Dallas, Alexander has never gained more than 83 yards against the Cowboys. He’s due for a breakout game.

3. Romo is a playoff rookie and can’t curb his compulsive need to make big plays.

4. The 12th Man.

5. Mike Holmgren is a better game-day coach than Parcells.

Prediction

Cowboys 31, Seahawks 28: Nothing more than a hunch at this point. Look for a Seattle blowout if Ware can’t beat Jones and get to Matt Hasselbeck.
