Dat Nguyen is returning to the franchise as an assistant coach

IRVING – Former Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen is returning to the franchise as an assistant coach.

Nguyen, a former Texas A&M star who played with the Cowboys from 1999 to 2005 before retiring because of a neck injury, will be the quality control/linebackers coach. Vincent Brown, who coached the inside linebackers last season, won't return.
Owner/general manager Jerry Jones and new head coach Wade Phillips hope to have the coaching staff filled out by the end of the week.
Tennessee Titans wide receivers coach Ray Sherman interviewed Tuesday, as did Phillips' son, Wes, who is an assistant at Baylor. Three more candidates are expected to interview for positions Wednesday.
