Mickey's Ranch Report on the Ticket...

He used the term “bundling” to move up. There’s not really a postion where you say ‘Boy, the Cowboys better draft a guy at this position or they’ll be in big trouble.”. So Im sure Jerry is going looking at the last time he was in this position in the mid-90’s, and maybe instead of trading down and getting questionable backups that he could get an instant impact player.

He said he was looking to add juice to the offense. Its probably not offensive lineman, tight end or quarterback. So that leaves runningback or wide receiver. There aren’t a lot of running backs out there. When I asked him if this meant a Ricky Williams type of blockbuster move up he said no, but maybe find a way to get in the 10, 11 or 12 range to leap frog up and get a player.

Someone suggested WR, and he said there is good depth late in the first day of the draft. So maybe RB? What else is left?

So you trade Julius to move up?
No, he said he won’t move a player, player won’t get you much. So I guess if you draft a RB, you just wait and see what happens with Julius and maybe trade him after the draft. It wouldn’t hurt them salary wise to move him.

I looked at the chart …. To move up from 22 to 15, it would cost you you’re 3rd, 4th and 5th. That’s 7 spots. To get up to 22 to 13, that’s a 2nd and 5th. To get up to 10 it would be 2nd and 3rd … now that’s a bundle.

To get up high enough to draft Adrian Peterson, it would take your whole draft or give up next year’s picks, and he said he wouldn’t do that. I think he learned his lesson with Galloway on giving up future 1st round picks. And just because you want to do it doesn’t mean someone will want to dance with you. So it sounds like its just in the back of his mind and he’ll pay attention to see if someone slips.

Do you think its Marshawn Lynch?
He said it would have to be a CB, a WR or an all purpose RB, a guy who can do it all. He didn’t rule out a pass rusher, but he said that would be a hard fit on our team.

The other thing that kind of came out of this whole deal is the difference between Parcells and Phillips, and he said Bill was big on prototype size that fit the position, and Wade likes speed. So that gets us back to a RB, CB, WR or pass rusher.
