DMN Blog: Cornerbacks ready for challenge

Cornerbacks look forward to challenge

Blitzing and being more aggressive up front is great, as long as you have cornerbacks that can cover one-on-one.

"It's always a feast-or-famine deal," nickel back Aaron Glenn said. "Just because you blitz doesn't mean it's going to be easy.

"It has no choice but to be a personal challegne. When you [blitz], you're going to be in one-on-one situations. We've got guys that want that challenge."

Anthony Henry said the cornerbacks' mindset doesn't need to change with the new scheme. They've always tried to force turnovers, but they just weren't very successful last season. Terence Newman, Henry and Glenn combined for only four interceptions -- a total that should at least double if the Cowboys get consistent pressure on quarterbacks.

"You want to make plays when the ball comes your way," said Henry, who was hampered by a sore knee last season. "In this scheme, the percentages ought to be a lot higher."
