DMN Blog: Afternoon practice highlights
*WR Jamaica Rector made the play of the day, diving to catch a pass on the sideline. GM Jerry, who was standing about 10 yards away, burst into applause.
*WR Jerheme Urban, a long shot to make the roster, also had a good practice. He made several catches, including a sliding grab on a cross route.
*In more exciting WR news, the Curse of Jackie Smith hit No. 81 again. He had two drops -- one in traffic on a crossing route and one on a slant. T.O. did make a few nice plays, including a touchdown catch across the middle from Tony Romo.
*Patrick Crayton was so wide-open on a deep ball from Brad Johnson that he had time to stop and still make the catch. Roy Williams was the closest defender. He says people who think he gets beat don't understand the scheme, so I'm a bit hazy on whether Crayton was Williams' responsibility.
*CB Anthony Henry had a pick-six off Johnson on the final play of practice.
*For those wondering why I focus almost exclusively on the passing game, it's because I can't tell much about the big guys and running backs when they aren't wearing pads.
I've got some good stuff from the locker room, but I gotta crank out a notebook for our wood-pulp product first.
