Report: Carrie Underwood, Tony Romo engagement may be coming

By Christopher Rocchio

Last month, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo reportedly wanted a timeout from his romantic relationship with fourth-season American Idol champ Carrie Underwood -- but now, he's reportedly called an audible and reversed course.

Speculation as to why Underwood has potential wedding bells ringing in her head reportedly stems from that fact that she took the time to try on "several wedding gowns" when she was deciding on what to wear to last month's Academy of Country Music Awards, during which she was honored as top female vocalist; saw her debut album "Some Hearts" take home album of the year; and was also awarded with video of the year for "Before He Cheats."

The two-time Grammy winner and up-and-coming NFL star began dating in late December, when Romo officially confirmed they were together after they were seen hugging and laughing on the field at Texas Stadium on Christmas Day before the Cowboys' game against the Philadelphia Eagles. However the couple apparently split soon after, as Romo told reporters during a pre-Super Bowl press conference, "She's a very nice, sweet girl, I care for her and whoever ends up with her will be a very lucky guy."

Around the same time, Underwood and British singer Oliver Trevena were reportedly dating after being spotted hugging and kissing after driving to the Los Angeles airport, where Underwood caught a flight. Then in late April, Underwood helped Romo celebrate his 27th birthday in Dallas, and the two reportedly looked "cozy" together as they sang some duets at the bash and frequently snuck-off to a private VIP section.

While it looked like Romo was back in Underwood's game plan to find Mr. Right -- he was her date at the 42nd Annual ACM Awards -- he reportedly requested a break from their relationship during the entire five-month NFL season to concentrate on his career.
