Romo Not Shy In Talking Super Bowl, New Contract

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is talking. A lot. Romo is talking big as he and the Cowboys are in prep mode getting set for training camp to start in July. Not only is the QB talking about a new contract, but he is thinking about the Cowboys reaching the ultimate prize this season - bringing a championship back to Dallas.
“I think we’ve got a chance to go real deep. I think this team has a shot at winning the whole thing,” Romo stated at a luncheon in Dallas on Monday. “I think part of it is what I saw at camp and part of it is what we’ve got coming back,” Romo said. “But seeing what I saw at camp excites me.”
Romo should be excited, but yet reserved about what the Cowboys bring to the table in 2007. They have a new coach in Wade Phillips, which is a big unknown, as well as an offensive line that has the makings of being a lot better, but will still need time to gel. Then of course there is always Terrell Owens, who can either be a Pro Bowl wide out that can be Romo’s best friend, or a distraction in and out of the huddle, which can turn a team upside down.
The other question for Romo is a new contract, which he and Cowboys are already in talks about. The current deal for Romo ends after the 2007 season, and the QB has already stated that he feels good about where the talks for he and the team are headed. Romo has gone on record and said that he would like to have a new deal in place before the start of the season.
How much Romo is worth is going to be up to the Cowboys. Romo was the talk of the league last season when he took the Cowboys to the top of the NFC East, but then they fell flat down the stretch when he struggled, and they eventually had the nightmare botched snap in Seattle, which all but cost them a playoff win and a second round matchup with the Bears. While a deal should be able to be reached, the Cowboys had better think long and hard before giving him the farm.
