Cowboys defensive end Chris Canty doesn't pretend to be a great golfer. But when he's not on the football field, there's a good chance he can be found swinging into a bunker on a course somewhere. That clumsiness, Canty says, is partly why he reminds himself a little bit of Homer Simpson.
What character from "The Simpsons" reminds you of yourself?
I'm kind of goofy like Homer, so I guess I'd be like Homer or somebody like that. I'm a simple dude and sometimes clumsy.
Have you reserved your copy of "Madden 08" yet?
No, man. I'm not even into video games like that.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I'm on the golf course. I like to fish. I'm not very good. I just like to go out there and just be with nature and relax. When you're playing golf, all you're concentrating on is hitting the golf ball. You're not thinking about anything else that's going on in your life. It's cool.
What's your best round of golf?
Oooh. 100. No, I'm just (joking). I think I shot an 87 one time.
Are you usually taller than most guys on the course?
Yeah. I mean, I'm taller (6-foot-7) than most of the people in the world.
Who is your favorite celebrity?
I'm a big Shaq fan. He's just a larger-than-life type of character. He's the Diesel. I just like how he rolls.
What celebrity gets on your nerves?
I like everybody.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Well, I've got a girlfriend so I'm not sure if she's gonna like if I say this. But right now, I've got to say I'm really feeling Paula Patton. Oooh, she's bad. She's a bad chick.
What's playing on your iPod or MP3 player right now?
I don't really have anything new. I'm a big OutKast fan. T.I., T.I. vs. T.I.P. — T.I. goes hard — and 8ball & MJG. I'm a big fan of all those groups.
What's your favorite television show?
"Law & Order," of course.
