TIDBIT: The agent for Reche Caldwell, who caught 61 passes for 760 yards and four touchdowns last year in New England before being cut by the Patriots this summer, said he spoke with the Cowboys on Thursday. Phillips is also familiar with Caldwell, who played for the Chargers from 2002-05.

Caldwell has played in 63 career games with 28 starts and has caught 137 passes for 1,710 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has recorded 11 career catches of 30 yards or longer.
Caldwell was the Patriots' leading receiver in 2006, catching 61 passes for 760 yards and four touchdowns. His reception total and receiving yardage total more than doubled his previous career highs in those categories.
Caldwell turned in the most productive game of his career against Tennessee (12/31/06), totaling 134 yards on four catches, including a career-long 62-yard touchdown reception.
In the 2006 playoffs, Caldwell caught 16 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown, with his biggest play coming on a 49-yard grab on third-and-10 in the fourth quarter of a divisional playoff game at San Diego (1/14/07) to set up the Patriots' game-winning field goal four plays later.
In 2005 with the Chargers, Caldwell established thencareer highs with 28 receptions and 352 yards while playing in all 16 games with two starts.
In 2004, he started the first six games of the year and led all San Diego wide receivers with 18 receptions for 310 yards and three touchdowns over that span before suffering a season-ending injury (10/17/04).
As a rookie in 2002, Caldwell played in every game and earned two starts while recording 22 receptions for 208 yards and three touchdowns, including a game-winning grab in the final minute of a game against Kansas City (10/13/02).
Caldwell showcased his versatility as a rookie by also returning nine kickoffs for 220 yards, completing a 20-yard pass and recording a pair of special teams tackles.
Caldwell's first career touchdown catch was a memorable one, as he grabbed a 14-yard scoring pass with 14 seconds left in the game to give San Diego a 35- 34 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs (10/13/02).
