DMN Blog:Jerry's take on Thomas

by Albert Breer

Jerry Jones stopped short of naming Zach Thomas a starter. It's not his place to do that.

But the owner/GM of the Cowboys had no problem proclaiming today's signing of the veteran linebacker a big move. And as is the case with any big move, you'd expect major contributions to result.

"I shouldn't say (who's starting), in fairness to everyone concerned here," Jones said. "But he's going to be playing on a defense that gives him the opportunity to be the best he can be, and that's gonna be hard to beat out."

The addition of Thomas does mean that the Cowboys are now returning both their starting inside linebackers, all the backups, and adding a seven-time Pro Bowl.
