DMN Blog: Mayock's Mock fuels Cowboy offense

by Albert Breer

NFL Network draft guru Mike Mayock has a mock draft up and the Cowboys' picks go like this ...

22) Dallas -- Arkansas RB Felix Jones: For Dallas, with Julius Jones gone to Seattle, Arkansas' Felix Jones provides the explosive complement to Marion Barber.

28) Dallas -- Cal WR DeSean Jackson: Dallas, again, puts a playmaker on the board. DeSean Jackson is another weapon for Tony Romo. Jackson provides big-play capability as a wide receiver and also in the return game.

Couple interesting things here. First, Mayock is in full agreement with my firm belief that Rashard Mendenall is the best back in the draft, yet he has him coming off the board third, behind Darren McFadden and Jonathan Stewart. Stewart, who has dropped some since his turf-toe surgery, goes 13th to Carolina here. For what it's worth, I've heard that the Panthers love Mendenhall, who Mayock slots 16th to Arizona. Jones is the fourth back off the board.

And also, Mayock has the first receiver coming off the board at 24, with the Titans tabbing Devin Thomas there. Jackson's the second wideout taken, with Mario Manningham going to the Giants with the final pick of the first round, and guys like Malcolm Kelly and Limas Sweed relegated to Round 2.
