Matt Mosley: Romo puts football first

As the official apologist for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, let me point you to a strong column by Randy Galloway of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Galloway talked to Hall of Famer Michael Irvin about whether Romo has focused too much on being a celebrity.
"That's how the business has changed," Irvin said. "It used to be you had to win before you were a celebrity. Now it doesn't matter, which may not be good, but that's the way it is. Think how big a celebrity Troy [Aikman] could've been, much bigger than Tony, and bigger than [Tom] Brady in my opinion. But Troy didn't want that."
But Irvin, who knows a thing or two about living his life in the spotlight, doesn't think Romo's gone overboard.
"Nobody out there [at Valley Ranch] has ever told me Tony lacks in commitment to his job," said Irvin. "Leave him alone because he's a good quarterback and a good guy who will be a winner. Plus, the only opinion who really counts doesn't want Tony to change anything."
That's an obvious reference to Jerry Jones, who values Romo's Q rating almost as much as his QB rating.
