Cowboys preparing for rejuvenated McNabb

By GEORGE RIBA / WFAA-TV

The Dallas Cowboys will face a Philadelphia Eagles team Monday night with quarterback Donovan McNabb, who seems to be on a mission this year.

"I heard he looked pretty good," said Cowboys safety Ken Hamlin.

"Donovan, I think, took it personally that he has a lot to prove," said Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis. "People saying 'is he still the Donovan of old,' and I think he wanted to answer those critics this year."

In the Eagles' season opener against the Rams, McNabb threw for 361 yards, including three touchdowns in a game. He looked like the McNabb of old.

"I think it was important for us to start that way, coming off a good preseason and obviously a great training camp, to start out early was very important being able to set the tone early in previous years, we weren't able to do that," McNabb said.

The Eagles finished 8-8 and last in the NFC East last year.

This year is different. McNabb says he can't remember a better start.

"You know I don't know," he said. "I was hit a lot last year."

"I'm pretty sure we'll be watching a lot of their film trying to figure out what we need to do to get that stopped," said Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears.

"It's going to be a big challenge," says Cowboys cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones, "but you know they played the Rams, they didn't play the Cowboys, so we'll do what we have to do and we're going to show up."

McNabb says he knows the Cowboys are a confident bunch and he says he learned that by watching HBO's "Hard Knocks." That's a reality show and Monday night he gets to see if the Cowboys are indeed the real deal.
