DMN: Jason Garrett isn't on Broncos' short list

by Tim MacMahon

Jason Garrett isn't even being mentioned anymore in stories about the Broncos' coaching search.

If the Broncos goes with a bright, young offensive mind, it appears that the job will go to 32-year-old Patriots coordinator Josh McDaniels. According to the NFL Network's Adam Schefter and the Rocky Mountain News' Jeff Legwold, McDaniels became the first candidate to interview a second time with the Denver brass.

Schefter and Legwold agree that Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and Buccaneers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris are still in the running. Legwold reports that Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnoulo is also being strongly considered, but the Broncos can't talk to him again until the weekend before the Super Bowl if New York wins today.

There is no indication that the Lions have made any progress trimming their long list of candidates, which includes Garrett.
