Just How Close Are The Cowboys?

Watching Super Bowl XLIII, I couldn't help but think the Cowboys are talented enough, on paper, to compete with Arizona and Pittsburgh. After all, they lost to both teams by a combined 13 points, including one game in overtime.
Bodoglife.com must agree, since the Cowboys already are favored to win the NFC next year (9/1 Super Bowl title odds).
We all know the Cowboys can't expect to take the next step with a status-quo approach. They've admitted their issues run deeper than that. Winning a playoff game for the first time in 12 years is the first hurdle.
The Cardinals proved last night they belonged in the Super Bowl, despite their flaws. That being said, how far away are the Cowboys? What do you think needs fixing?
