Cowboys sign veteran linebacker

By Tom Orsborn

LB Matt Stewart got a one-year deal today from the Cowboys, reuniting him with former Atlanta teammate Keith Brooking and Wade Phillips, who coordinated the Falcons defense in 2002-2003.

A shoulder injury cost Stewart the 2007 season with Cleveland. He signed with Arizona on April 17, 2008, but the Cardinals released him just before the start of the season and he remained out of football.

Atlanta drafted him in the fourth round (102nd overall) in 2001. He played four seasons for the Falcons before moving to Cleveland for a three-year stint with the Browns.
