THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS
IRVING - With the NFL draft fast approaching, the Cowboys will have their 30 allowable pre-draft visits from prospects from April 15-17.
Among the visiting players will be Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee, whose stock has climbed since the NFL scouting combine. McGee had a disappointing senior season in part because of shoulder problems.
Southlake Carroll product Chase Daniel, Missouri's record-setting quarterback, will take part in the "Dallas day" workout for players from the D-FW area on April 10, along with Rice tight end James Casey, who played at Azle.
Open practice at new stadium: When the Cowboys return from training camp in San Antonio, they will have a free public practice at their new stadium in Arlington.
No official date has been set, although it is expected to be after the first preseason game at the stadium on Aug. 21 against Tennessee.
Last summer, 20,000 fans attended an open Cowboys practice at Texas Stadium.
Lineman Procter signs: Offensive lineman Cory Procter on Thursday became the first of the Cowboys' four restricted free agents to sign a one-year tender offer, worth $1.545 million.
The other restricted free agents are wide receivers Sam Hurd and Miles Austin and defensive end Stephen Bowen.
Restricted free agents have until April 17 to sign with another team. The Cowboys would receive second-round picks if they choose not to match an offer.
Procter started 11 games at left guard in 2008 after injuries to Kyle Kosier (foot) and Montrae Holland (ankle). Procter can also play center.
Briefly: Free agent defensive tackle Tank Johnson visited Cincinnati this week. Johnson spent the last two seasons with the Cowboys and had 45 tackles, one sack and three tackles for losses in 2008. Johnson is the second ex-Cowboy to visit the Bengals, joining safety Roy Williams, who worked out there last month.
