Version 2.0 and Final Cowboys Mock draft 7 rounds
Version 2.0 2009 Cowboys NFL Mock Draft
2nd rd#51 Louis Delmas safety if he is available, however, most likely Patrick Chung S Oregon 5'11, 212. Either could start immediately in the dime sub-package and be heir apparent at safety. Cowboys lost former Pro-Bowler Roy Williams after this past season, so this is a huge need position. They need a starter now.
3rd rd #69 Victor Harris CB VT 5'11, 198. One of the best athletes at the position and rising fast, he would take over immediately for Pacman Jones as punt returner and give the Boys some bodies to take the place of departed corners Anthony Henry and Jones. His ability to play other positions would not stunt the growth of Jenkins or Scandrick. Newman will have his annual injury, so the Cowboys need another starting level corner.
4th rd #101. Jasper Brinkley ILB 6'1, 252 South Carolina. Great at stuffing the hole and run stopper. Good side to side movement. Brinkley is dominant and would be well suited for the 3-4 defense. He could start right away. The Cowboys may move him to OLB.
4th rd #117 Herman Johnson OG 6'7 350, LSU. Has huge wingspan and is very tall. Was the biggest baby every born in Louisiana. He is very talented and physical. He looks very dominant in key games. He is nasty and finishes blocks. Could start at either guard position. Most like Leonard Davis of the Cowboys.
5th rd #156 Sammie Lee Hill DT 6'4 329 Stillman. Big defensive lineman that Dallas would try to convert over to a NT in the 3-4. Has the ability to bull rush. Needs to be able to take on 2 blockers. He can be coached up and the Cowboys need a backup NT.
5th Rd #166 Gerald Cadogan OT 6'5 305 Penn State. Solid tackle prospect. Played left tackle in college. Able to block to the second level. Good strength and character. Should be able to backup either tackle position and then start in 2010.
5th Rd #172 Johnny Knox WR 6'0 186 Abilene-Christian. I know lots of people that went to Abilene so this is kinda of a sentiment pick. Decent size, but blazing speed.
I believe the Cowboys will trade the remaining picks to move up or trade them for next year, but here are some names if they don't. Looking for value and special teams players here.
6th Rd #197 Fui Vakapuna FB 5'11 244 BYU
6th Rd #208 Christopher Owens CB 5'10 170 San Jose State
7th Rd #219 Andrew Hartline OT 6'5 297 C. Michigan
7th Rd #227 Michael Tauilili ILB 5'11 235 Duke
