DMN Blog: How big of a factor will Felix Jones be in the passing game?

By Tim MacMahon/Blogger

The coaches raved last spring and summer about Felix Jones' potential
to make an impact in the passing game.

His receiving totals from an abbreviated rookie season: two catches,
10 yards.

His receiving totals from team drills during the four OTA practices
open to the media aren't much more impressive. But I was reminded of
his potential as a receiving threat when, with the offense working vs.
air, he extended to snag a pass on a seam route without breaking stride.
The Cowboys know Jones can make big plays if they get him the ball in
space on swing and screen passes. They think he can also create
problems for defenses downfield on occasion, especially when he's
matched up with a linebacker in man coverage.

The passing game lost its KO guy when T.O. got cut, so the Cowboys
need big-play punch from other guys. It'll be interesting to see how
Jason Garrett incorporates his most explosive weapon into the aerial
attack.
