Michael Irvin on Monday Night Countdown . . .

I loved this discussion:

Stu Scott - Michael, is the team (Eagles) better off, without Terrel Owens?

Michael Irvin - You know Stu, the relationship between Donovan and T.O. deteriorated to a point where yes this team is better off that these guys have gone their seperate ways . . . BUT . . . a better football team on the football field without the best, or one of the best players in the National Football League, absolutely not. The Eagles are not a better football team, and the record last year had showed that, and the record this year will show that.

Steve Young - Well clearly Michael they are better off without the madness of last year. It was tragic last year, it cost the city of Philadelphia and the Eagles a half a decade of glory, and its unfortunate. But look, before T.O. this was a top 5 organizatoin with a solid GM, owner and coach. Now post T.O. situation, they are a very stable organization, they are going to be a top 5 organization, and they are going to be a part of championships in January, and playoff runs every year.

Tom Jackson - I agree Steven, I think they are better off and I believe they are a better football team. I think that what people want to do that are T.O. fans is they want to seperate the player and the person. I don't believe you can do that. The same talented guy that you get that can catch those 15-20 touchdowns a year, who has collected over 100 touchdowns is the same guy that will cause every organization he is with some amount of distress. Thats the exact same thing that is going on in Dallas, the same thing that went on here (Philly), the same thing that went on in San Francisco.

Michael Irvin - I'm glad we asked this question because here I'm just thinking about this: Now, so when the Eagles DON'T do well this year . . .

Tom Jackson - IF! IF!

Michael Irvin - Let me just finish! Can we not say 'T.O. ruined this team'. Because now he's no longer here, and everybody is saying they'll be fine without him, can we not say that.

Steve Young - Yeah . . .

Michael Irvin - Okay . . . lets do it. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT . . .'T.O. ruined the Eagles' . . . I don't want to hear it.

Steve Young - That's what I'm trying to tell you. The stability of this organization is still in tact.

Michael Irvin - We'll see. That worked great when the NFC was not as good as it is right now. The NFC East is a tough division. Lets see.

IMO . . . Michael Irvin OWNED these guys.
