Mosley BLOG: Hatcher, Petitti, A. Johnson, Vandy blurbs
No access at Valley Ranch...
If you were hoping to hear from Bill Parcells today, I have some bad news for you.
We probably won't hear from him again until Monday.
Hope most of you are taking that day off.
The time away from Valley Ranch will allow me to prepare for our fantasy draft this evening. Our Art Vandelay League includes 12 teams and dates back at least 13 years.
Still trying to recover from drafting Troy Aikman with the fifth pick in 1994. Great player, but not a big fantasy guy. I'll try to file some updates from draft headquarters (my media room) later this evening.
Any sleepers I should keep in mind? How far has Vanderjagt's stock fallen? Have to go grab some coffee now. See you in a bit.

Jason Hatcher impresses; goodbye to Sean Ryan
Rookie defensive end Jason Hatcher led the Cowboys with six tackles and a half sack. Hatcher's a lot further down the road than the club anticipated. With the depth at defensive end, I'm not sure Kenyon Coleman is long for this team.
By the way, I hated to see Sean Ryan shipped off to the Jets. If you're ranking the quality human beings on this team, Ryan's near the top.

Petitti and Johnson have strong nights...
Left tackle Rob Petitti and center Al Johnson both had strong nights.
Tony Romo threw 45 passes, and Petitti only let someone near him once. That was on a play where Romo had to hold the ball an extra second.
I realize he was going against the second team, but Al Johnson had his best game of the preseason. He's a very technical player, who is capable of making solid blocks on run. I know Parcells has celebrated the Andre Gurode makeover, but he stunk up the joint last night. Why did your starting quarterback get knocked woozy?
Well, it didn't help that Gurode snapped that ball too early on the third-and-1 quarterback sneak. Drew Bledsoe didn't have anyone else to offer interference.
We used to have the old quarterback sneak on touch in junior high, but David Tenison never ended up with head injuries.

Brad Johnson questions Parcells...
Loved hearing Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson tell Greg Ellis, "You should've gone for two," during the overtime coin flip. Just heard someone on the radio say that maybe Bill Parcells wanted to see Mike Vanderjagt kick an extra point.
Huh?
This is supposed to be the most accurate kicker in the game, and we're testing him with an extra point. Listen, I don't want to be an alarmist, but this Vanderjagt thing should worry you.
He said he could make those kicks in his sleep. Well, we'd like to see him do it in a game at some point. This guy has the yips, and it's not kind of yips he can work through on the par-3 golf course in his yard in Canada.
