Extending Glenn's contract a good deal

The Dallas Cowboys brokered another contract extension last week, but the move didn't garner the team the praise it received when new deals were given to Jason Witten, Roy Williams, Tony Romo and Bradie James.

But after watching Aaron Glenn make the defensive play of the game in the Cowboys' 45-14 thrashing of Tennessee, the time has come to praise the Cowboys for another wise decision.

Glenn, formerly of Texas A&M, received a one-year contract worth $2 million. He celebrated by making a diving interception of a Vince Young pass three plays into the second half.

Four plays later, Julius Jones polished off a 56-yard drive to give the Cowboys a 21-6 lead.

Glenn's theft regained the momentum the Cowboys lost when Young engineered a 59-yard march that ended with the Titans kicking a field goal on the final play of the first half.

"(Glenn) was one of the guys talking in the locker room about how we needed to go out and get an interception to start the (second) half," cornerback Terence Newman said. "I went up to him afterward and said, ‘Hey, you just called it.' "

Newman said such take-charge leadership is typical of Glenn. And even though he's 34, Glenn remains one of the team's best athletes.

"I wouldn't let his age fool you," Newman said. "He's a great athlete."
