DMN Blog: TO doesn't talk...Ellis more than a little competition
T.O. doesn't talk
Terrell Owens declined to address the media horde (official count: 62), but plenty of people talked about T.O.
"Terrell is going to practice and catch the ball," Wade Phillips said with a wry smile to open his press conference. "And catch the ball very well, as a matter of fact."
T.O. didn't have a drop during the morning practice. He caught all four passes thrown to him during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills, including a deep ball from Tony Romo that T.O. beat Terence Newman for a touchdown.
Phillips said T.O. caught passes in Miami earlier this week -- for the first time since his operation on his right ring finger. Nevertheless, Jerry said he was surprised to see T.O. in team drills today.
"I'm surprised, but I can understand why he got excited to get out there," Jerry said. "He got caught up in the enthusiasm of being with the team."

Ellis more than a 'little competition' for rookie
First-round pick Anthony Spencer, who worked with the first-string defense this morning, said he's loving the possibility of being a starter.
"I'm looking forward to a little competition," said Spencer, who dropped back in coverage some his first three seasons at Purdue.
Greg Ellis, the injured, incumbent starter at that outside linebacker spot, worked out on the side. He did a bunch of agility drills and worked with one of those big, ol' bungee cord thingees for a while. Ellis looks sleek and showed no sign of a limp.
Wade Phillips said he expects Ellis to be ready to roll by training camp, if not a bit before. And the starting job is Ellis' to lose when he gets healthy.
"He's our starting outside backer," Phillips said. "Everybody saw last year what happened when he wasn't there. He can be a dominant player."
