T.Newman's agent in town

DBs' agent visits Valley Ranch

Agent Kennard McGuire attended the first day of the Cowboys' minicamp and chatted with Cowboys exec Stephen Jones for almost the entire second practice.

It's doubtful that McGuire and Jones were talking about a deal this afternoon, but they will be in the not-too-distant future. McGuire represents three Cowboys: CB Terence Newman, FS Ken Hamlin and C Andre Gurode.

The Cowboys signed Gurode to a six-year, $30 million deal right after his first Pro Bowl appearance. That had a lot to do with Hamlin agreeing to a one-year deal with Dallas. Jerry and Co. proved they'd take care of a guy that performed well in a contract year.

Newman is signed through 2008, but it wouldn't be stunning if he got a new deal at some point. I'm sure McGuire is familiar with the eight-year, $80 million deal CB Nate Clements signed with the 49ers.
