Picking up Timmy Mac's slack

Picking up Timmy Mac's slack

We'll offer a few more mini-camp thoughts:

** Quarterback Tony Romo went 19-of-20 during the seven-on-seven drills Monday with his only incomplete pass coming off a miscommunication with rookie Jerard Rabb. His first pass in the morning was a thing of beauty on a post between the cornerback and safety. Romo looked sharp the entire mini-camp.

** Kevin Burnett wants playing time. He would help himself with more plays like the interception of a Brad Johnson pass in the morning, but he had a difficult time with Jason Witten on back-to-back plays later.

** Cornerback Aaron Glenn had off-season ankle surgery and it appeared to slow him some during Monday's afternoon workout when he was beat deep by Sam Hurd.

** DeMarcus Ware's interception (which Tim chronicled earlier) was almost as impressive as his interception return for a touchdown vs. Atlanta last season. A little later he picked up what would have been a sack after beating Marc Colombo off the edge.

** Rookie Jackie Battle showed some nice vision on some runs, but it looks like he runs a little high, which might leave him exposed to some big shots. He took one inadvertent hit Monday that led to a fumble.

** I know you guys want some updates on the offensive and defensive line play but without pads it's hard to get a read on what any of them are doing. Wade Phillips said Chris Canty has been disruptive, and he liked what Jason Hatcher and Marcus Spears have done, too. On the offensive side of the ball it was impressive to see Leonard Davis in space as a blocker on a screen pass to Julius Jones.

** The Cowboys will hold their first of their on-field teaching activitied next Monday. Each team is allowed 14 workouts that must last less than two hours. Players don't wear pads and contact must be kept at a minimum. The next mini-camp is June 8-10.
