Purdue's finest honored

Football player Anthony Spencer and diver Amanda Miller were named Purdue's Athletes of the Year, and are eligible for the Big Ten's Athlete of the Year awards.

Spencer led the nation with 261/2 tackles for loss and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the NFL draft in April. He is Purdue's first first-round pick since 1987.

Miller was the only diver to earn All-America status on all three boards (1-meter, 3-meter and platform) at the NCAA swimming and diving championships. She graduated from Purdue last month.
